Peugeot 2008, 2014

  • Peugeot 2008, 2014

Peugeot 2008 capitalises on its expertise acquired with the success of the 3008 Crossover to create an innovative vehicle for the B segment. Set to go on sale in spring 2013, it joins in the dynamic of the offensive successfully initiated by the 208.

Peugeot innovates by designing the first urban crossover that is easy, exciting and brings an enhanced driving experience:
  •     An innovative cockpit, structured around the small steering wheel, combining high-quality instrumentation and touch screen - as is the strategy for the brands products,
  •     A dynamic behaviour synonymous with enjoyment, with Peugeot's ride and handling expertise,
  •     Freedom to go on mixed terrain due to raised ground clearance, protection and Grip Control.
An international concept
On all continents, the world is changing, becoming more urbanised. The new generation of people love the city as much as they like to escape from it. Dynamic, flexible, they move constantly from one configuration to another life. Regardless of their continent, they are looking for products to enhance their image and enchant their lives.

With the mind, the brand has developed a specification of ambitious targets. The crossover by Peugeot combines a unique driving experience, with strong design and benefits of use. The challenge was to integrate this DNA design across three geographic areas for a vehicle for a global clientele. The Peugeot 2008 sold in Europe is produced in the factory in Mulhouse (France).

At just 4.16m long and 1.74m wide, Peugeot 2008 innovates by combining uniquely exciting driving, the robustness of an SUV with the practicality of space, comfort and modularity so to enjoy each moment. Equally at home in town and on the road, it can escape the restrictions of a city with confidence and ease due to its enhanced traction of Grip Control.

A unique style for a new territory
The Peugeot 2008 reinvents the standards of large volume vehicles in the small car segment. Innovative from first glance, it successfully merges the worlds. The strong stylistic trend affirms its identity contributing to practicality, volume and driving experience.

With its raised posture, the 2008 runs on 'Mud&Snow' tyres and 17'' alloy wheels in a matt finish. The special shape of the wheel arch surrounds give the Peugeot 2008 a good stance of clear capability. The black bumpers and body sills protect it, together with stainless steel front and rear off-road protection panels with chromed side mouldings.

The front face adopts the stylistic codes of the Marque. The components are adjusted precisely, all surplus material removed. Finely sculpted, the bonnet demonstrates the protection, strength and lightness of the 2008. The floating grille is cut from a block and is set upright with an expression which is both refined and full of power. The innovative headlamps are designed precisely to the technical functions. Sharp, they act with the bodywork to outline a cat's pupil. Sculpted, they are one with the front face, giving it an even more expressive, technological and individual character. This look is emphasised by LED day running lamps. The bonnet and wings complete this reassuring impression of precision, protection and strength, yet still lightweight.

The new urban crossover has very elegant and sophisticated sculpted wings and sides, indicating clear athletic qualities. The generous glazed surfaces, including the panoramic roof, promise a spacious interior open to its surroundings. The rear elegantly combines strength with dynamism. The boot volume, with a low loading sill, has above it a roof with dynamic curves, inspired by the RCZ. The wide tailgate is framed by lamps secured solidly to the bodywork. Floating inside their housing, the three luminous claws lit at their base by LEDs appear suspended.

The dynamic and elegant movement of the roof is also a feature of the profile. A roof wave emerges above the rear seats and sets the scene for an exclusive decoration as if cut into the metal. As if crimped to the bodywork, it is the origin of the spoiler in an extension of the same part, on the surface. The precise design of the roof bars puts the finishing touches to the concepts of dynamism and leisure expressed by the Peugeot 2008.

An innovative driving experience in the crossover segment
From first glance, the interior of the Peugeot 2008 takes its driver on a journey along new roads. Grip Control dial and aircraft type handbrake arranged on an exclusive console, new Brundy trim with an earthy tone … the driver is transported in an elegant ambiance with striking colour schemes. A true invitation to touch, the fascia capping is covered in a silky material. Satin chrome parts brighten this space: vents, handbrake lever, small steering wheel lower decoration, gear lever knob ears, touch screen trims.

On the higher levels, two versions of the console are available. The first offers paint of very intense depth, combining mat and metallic flecks. The second has a network of graduated fine lines. This design is obtained by means of a very precise laser engraving process. The fascia trim, the front and rear door crossbars are also adorned with this design.

As on the outside, the light signature is a constituent part of the passenger compartment of the 2008. So the atmosphere on board is like no other. Ideally placed in the line of vision, the head up dials on the higher versions are surrounded with blue LED backlighting whereas they are chromed on the other versions.

The panoramic glass roof, fitted with its electric shutter, allows natural light into the passenger compartment. When the lights are switched on, the LED guides emit a dimmed blue light. However, even with the steel roof, the Peugeot 2008 offers a unique light signature. In fact, it innovates with a roof adorned with motifs of a very precise design obtained by laser engraving. At night, the Peugeot LED Track is lit with a soft white light emitted by LEDs.

With the international success of the 3008, Peugeot acquired extensive expertise in the crossover which it has decided to combine with its driving experience expertise. The 2008 benefits from benchmark handling in the segment being the first crossover with the driving characteristics of a hatchback. Anticipating the road thanks to his high position, the driver controls the vehicle by means of a small steering wheel. As the reactive steering provides consistent information about the road, he places the Peugeot 2008 with precision and agility.

The suspension and wheels have been adjusted precisely to take advantage of the limited weight of 1045kg. The fine-tuning related to the pseudo-McPherson front axle and the rear suspension with deformable crossmember with springs and dampers which have been specially calibrated, as has the power steering. So, the 2008 achieves an excellent combination of comfort, stability and dynamism. The driver can therefore take pleasure in reactive driving while guaranteeing the comfort of his passengers.

Grip Control for improved traction
The system patented by the Group optimises traction in conditions of poor grip. It combines with the 16cm ground clearance an advanced traction control system and 'Mud&Snow'; tyres, fitted on wheel rims of distinctive style combining a diamond cut finish and a matt finish.

Versatile and flexible, Grip Control adapts to the terrain encountered by acting on the front wheels with the driver always in control. Indeed, they can decide at any time to select from Standard mode using the dial located on the centre console, for: Snow, Off-Road, Sand, ESP Off conditions.

On the 2008, Grip Control is available with two sizes of tyres: 215/60 R16 or 205/50 R17.

Park Assist, making parking a pleasure
By automating parking manoeuvres, this technological equipment exploits the compactness of the Peugeot 2008 to make moving around town easier. After activating the function, the driver selects the manoeuvre to be carried out on the touch screen, parallel parking on the left or right-hand side of the road. Then the ultrasound measures the spaces to indicate to the driver the first space available. The Park Assist then parks the vehicle by action of the electric power steering, the driver no longer having to do anything but check the progress of his vehicle and surrounding objects.

To leave the space, nothing could be easier. Simply call on the intelligence of the Park Assist once more, even on a hill thanks to the Hill Assist function, available on all engines with the exception of the 1.4-litre e-HDi 68 and the 1.2-litre VTi 82 5-speed manual.

Safety of the highest level: primary, secondary and tertiary
In a vehicle, safety begins with a comfortably seated driver, at one with his environment. The intuitive architecture of the 2008's instruments and controls has been developed to achieve this objective. The small steering wheel is the symbol of this; it illustrates the ease of taking control of the 2008 and the driving precision. The head up instrument panel reduces the time needed to obtain information. The large 7" touch screen, at the driver's fingertips, minimises commands for control of the audio/navigation. The driver can also count on the cruise control-speed limiter which is standard on all versions, on the chassis adjustments and on a range of other equipment. The Peugeot 2008 creates an alliance never experienced until now, combining safety, reactive driving and ease.

All versions of the 2008 are fitted as standard with an ESP, disconnectable up to 50km/h / 30mph, which combines several functions: anti-skid regulation (ASR), stability control (CDS), emergency braking assistance (EBA) and electronic brake force distribution (EBFD). The whole acts on four brake discs regardless of the version chosen. However, they are adapted to the different engines for improved characteristics (performance and durability). So, at the front, the ventilated discs are of two different sizes: 266 x 22mm and 283 x 26mm for the most powerful versions. At the rear, the range is equipped with non-ventilated discs of 249 x 9mm.

The structure of the Peugeot 2008 is designed for optimum deformation in the event of an impact. In this case it diffuses the energy in the force channels which guarantee the integrity of the passenger compartment. The occupants are protected by a set of six airbags - two front, two side, two curtain. The side air bags are installed in the front seat backs. So, the front occupants are provided with optimum protection, regardless of the adjustment of the seats. For the safety of children, the passenger's front airbag can be disconnected to permit the installation of a "rear facing" child seat while the rear side seats are equipped with Isofix mountings with three fixing points.

The active footrest and the collapsible steering column contribute to the protection of the driver, while the connection between the front doors and the centre pillar is guaranteed by a retention pin.

The 2008 also benefits from Peugeot's leadership in terms of tertiary safety. When equipped with the Independent Telematic Unit, the urban crossover offers the Peugeot Connect SOS and Peugeot Connect Assistance services free of charge and with no time limit. In the event of an incident, the vehicle is geolocated and the assistance process triggered.

Since its launch in 2003, more than 760,000 Peugeot vehicles in 10 European countries have been equipped with these services. They have permitted rapid attendance of the emergency services in more than 6,500 serious situations.

A large volume, easy to use
With its wheelbase of 2.54m, the Peugeot 2008 offers interior characteristics of a high level. The rear passengers have a generous amount of space, thanks to the thinner front seat backs, and a 12v socket for the connection of a portable device. Without leaving their seat, they can access the boot even when the vehicle is moving. To permit this, the front part of the load space cover pivots.

From the outside, access to the large boot is just as easy with a large rectangular opening and a low loading sill, just 60cm high, trimmed with a brushed stainless steel protector. The 1/3-2/3 modular bench seat allows you to change the volume from 360 to 1194dm3, of which 22dm3 are under the floor, with a single gesture. One press on the control at the top of the rear seat back is all it takes to fold the seat back, the seat cushion retracts automatically.

Wherever they are sitting, passengers find numerous storage compartments, well designed and easy to locate thanks to the front and rear courtesy lamps: front door trays, glove box, tray and can holder near the gear lever, console closed storage compartment, pockets on the front seat backs. In total, the storage volume is 24-litres. So, keys, smartphones and other everyday objects always find a place in the 2008.

An efficient range of engines
Taking advantage of the light-weight design, aerodynamic silhouette and the wide range of engines makes it possible to have low fuel consumption and low emissions from just 3.8 l/100km / 61.8mpg and CO2 from 98g/km.

The expertise and technological innovation of the Group - introduction of the Stop&Start on the petrol engines, Diesel e-HDi engines, new generation 3-cylinder petrol engines - position the Peugeot 2008 as the leader in its segment by successfully combining protection of the environment and driving pleasure.

New generation 3-cylinder petrol engines
Designed entirely by the Group, the new generation of 3-cylinder petrol engines has already proved its efficiency in terms of consumption and emissions of CO2. But it is also compact and light with, for the 1.2 VTi, a reduction of 21kg compared to a 4-cylinder engine of equivalent power.

A complete Stop&Start range: e-VTi petrol and e-HDi Diesel
This technology was introduced successfully by the e-HDi engines on the 508 and 308 before being popularised by the 208. Today, the e-VTi engines launched by the 2008 allow customers choosing petrol to enjoy the same benefits.

Fitted on both the petrol and Diesel engines, this technology, which reduces consumption and increases the comfort of use, is now available on 6 of the 9 engines of the Peugeot 2008 range. The 1.2 e-VTi is coupled with a development of the automated gearbox which offers a creep-drive function and reduces CO2 emissions to only 99g/km. For Diesel, the range starts at 98g/km.

New Turbocharged 3-cylinder engines
In the months following its launch, the engine range will be expanded versions of the supercharged three-cylinder gasoline engine. Two power levels are available; 1.2-litre e-THP 110 and 1.2-litre e- THP 130 offer smooth driving characteristics, due mostly to its high torque, respectively of 205 and 230Nm.

With a high degree of technical sophistication, the 1.2-litre e-THP is 12kg lighter, compared to a 4- cylinder naturally aspirated equivalent engine, even though it has a turbo, a larger cooling system and that it offers performance with 45% more torque. The fuel consumption improvement is between 15 and 20%, depending on the version.

Pittsburgh Toyota Service

Pittsburgh Toyota Service

If your car totally breaks down and will not start, it is obvious that it needs to be taken to a Pittsburgh Toyota service center to get fixed. However, there are often many smaller signs for vehicles that are technically still running that mean service is needed before a breakdown. If you can learn to identify these things, you can get the car fixed when it is convenient to you, rather than waiting for that eventual failure.

For example, the brake pads on the car wear down just a little bit every time that you use the brakes. These are metal pads that are situated behind the wheels on a disc brake system. Applying your brake pedal pushes them against the wheel and stops the car. There are small metal bars built into the pads that run sideways through those pads. These make a squealing sound when they touch the spinning wheel. If you hear that sound, it means that you have worn through almost the whole pad, to the metal insert, and that you need to get those pads changed. They will still work, but not for much longer.

Ignoring signs like this can actually be dangerous. Eventually, your brakes could just give out because the car has not been serviced properly. You could also wear through the pads and begin wearing away the rotors, which are more expansive to replace. You are best off to act as soon as you seen the warning signs, making your vehicle safe.

Jeep Grand Cherokee EU-Version, 2014

  • Jeep Grand Cherokee EU-Version, 2014

Since its first market introduction in 1992, Jeep® Grand Cherokee has been delivering the values of freedom, authenticity, adventure and passion of the brand. Premium Large SUV of the Jeep lineup, Grand Cherokee represents its standard in terms of power, comfort, innovation and craftsmanship.

With the introduction of Jeep Grand Cherokee, more than two decades ago, Jeep reinvented the premium Sport-utility vehicle (SUV) segment and set a new standard within the category. Today, after nearly 5 million sales worldwide, the most awarded Large SUV ever continues to evolve and features a new exterior and interior design, new advanced technological contents and enhanced on-road and off-road manners thanks to its all-new eight-speed automatic transmission. Fitted as standard across the entire lineup, the new gearbox significantly reduces consumption and emissions while improving acceleration and securing smoother and faster gear shifting.

New exterior and interior design features characterize each single trim level of the 2014 lineup in a unique way and include new bi-xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights (DRLs), a new design for the wheels and new interior/exterior color combinations.

New, handcrafted interiors deliver now even more refinement to the Jeep flagship thanks to the use of premium materials such as Natura Plus leather and high-quality wood. The introduction of a new three-spoke steering wheel add to the exclusive character of the cabin.

New contents are also offered in terms of infotainment, offering the new UConnect with 8.4-inch touchscreen and satellite navigation and the all-new for the brand 7" TFT customer configurable cluster display. Exclusive feature of both the top-of-the-range Summit model and the high-performance Grand Cherokee SRT model is a state-of-the-art nineteen-speaker, 825-watt Harman Kardon surround sound audio system.

Legendary Jeep capability comes courtesy of three four-wheel drive systems - Quadra-Trac II, Quadra-Drive II and SRT-exclusive Quadra-Trac -, the Jeep Quadra-Lift air suspension and the Selec-Terrain and Selec-Track traction management systems.

The new 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee offers the most advanced safety features, including updated Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation and all-new Selec-Speed Control: both complement the vehicle's already rich array of standard active and passive safety system.

The new 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee will be introduced across European markets starting in July 2014 and will be available in the Laredo, Limited, Overland and SRT trim levels as well as with a more exclusive Summit top of the range model.

DESIGN
For 2014, the Jeep Grand Cherokee receives an updated style: all trim levels have been given a more premium look and are readily recognisable at a glance. On all models, the signature seven-slot grille is shorter in height, the headlights are slimmer and the lower front fascia has been slightly elevated while the fog lights have been raised and are more pronounced. All together, these changes give the front end of the Grand Cherokee a more elegant, sportier appearance while still preserving Jeep's signature features.

The main design enhancement for the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee are the new high-intensity discharge bi-xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights (DRL), offered as standard on all trim levels. The Summit and SRT models feature adaptive HID bi-xenon headlamps with LED lighting.

The rear of the new Grand Cherokee has also received changes and boasts new, larger tail lamps with LED lighting, a larger and more aerodynamic rear spoiler, new bumpers and a re-sculpted tailgate that offers greater visibility. Lower rear fascias are now model-specific, and dual exhaust tips are now standard on Limited, Overland and Summit models.

A new design of the wheels and new interior/exterior color combinations complete the main exterior styling news found on the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and further enhance its image of quality.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo exteriors are identified by body-color side mirrors and door handles. The grille receives a chrome headlight treatment while the rear fascia features the new signature tail lamp design. Laredo also rides on standard five-spoke 18-inch aluminum wheels painted Satin Chrome.

Grand Cherokee Limited models add to the Laredo look bright door handles and a chrome trimmed dual exhaust outlet. An all-new chrome trim outlines also the lower front fascia opening and the rear bumper.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland features several body-color design cues including the lower fascia trim on the front and rear of the vehicle. The body-color trim carries over to the wheel arches and wheels surround. The lower rocker panels also receive a body color treatment. Overland models boast polished 20-inch five-spoke aluminum wheels with Mineral Gray painted pockets.

The new Grand Cherokee Summit model tops the range and receives many unique styling cues. The bi-xenon HID signature headlamps are adaptive, and swivel in conjunction with the steering wheel. This improves visibility around bends and turns and enhances safety on board Grand Cherokee. Between the lamps is a chrome finish on the upper grille's mesh pattern. The entire lower fascia is unique and features a pronounced chrome trim similar in design to the one on the Grand Cherokee SRT model. The front bumper is larger and features a slimmer opening for the projector fog lamps compared with other models. Body-color wheel arch moldings are also larger in comparison to other models and a Dark Gray lower rocker trim panel with a chrome strip runs along the top edge of the rocker. This chrome accent helps to visually lengthen the side view of the new Grand Cherokee. The rear fascia is dominated by dual rectangular exhaust outlets and Dark Gray lower body cladding. These features are unique to Summit models. Satin Clear Coat 20-inch aluminum wheels are a unique-to-Summit twin five-spoke design.

In line with its sporty character, the new Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT model features a black, seven-slot front grille. Also the adaptive, bi-xenon headlamps feature a unique black background to distinguish SRT from other 2014 Grand Cherokee models. This black treatment contributes to further highlight the unique SRT aggressive appearance.

The SRT's front treatment is mirrored in the back for a cohesive styling appearance: here the tail lamps with signature LED lighting offer a black surround to further emphasize the SRT's performance heritage. Also new for 2014 is a more aerodynamically efficient rear spoiler integrated into the all-new, one-touch liftgate adorned with new SRT badge. Rather than relying on a manual lever, the liftgate is operated electronically with the push of a button.

Exclusive to SRT are standard 20-inch Black Vapor Chrome aluminum wheels with five-spoke design.

Aggressive 20-inch five-spoke bright polished Goliath aluminum wheels are available as optional only on the SRT trim level.

Jeep Grand Cherokee open-air options

The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee features the CommandView dual-pane power sunroof that extends from the windshield to the rear of the vehicle, allowing for perfect views both on- and off-road. CommandView is comprised of two glass panels with the front panel opening rearward providing a glass surface that is twice more extensive than the one offered by any traditional roof. The rear panel, which is fixed, allows light and open viewing for second-row passengers. The system comes standard with a power sun shade for those who may not want direct sunlight. CommandView is standard on Overland, Summit and SRT models and is available on Limited models.

Interiors
The new Jeep Grand Cherokee interiors are enhanced thanks to the use of high quality materials and model-specific color combinations. The center stack has been revised and features a new UConnect 8.4" touchscreen. Controls for radio and climate are found below the screen and have knobs and buttons which are easy to identify and to use. The centre console reveals a new leather-wrapped electronic shifter for the eight-speed transmission. Another new feature of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee is the new three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel featuring sections of fine wood on Overland and Summit models. Optimised in terms of driving position, it features buttons for managing radio, cruise control, telephone and voice commands in complete safety. All trim levels come with paddle shifters mounted on the back of the steering wheel as standard.

Designers took inspiration from legendary locations and terrains from around the world when creating the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee's interior. Each Grand Cherokee model has its own unique style of luxury and ambiance based on specific materials and color patterns.

2014 Grand Cherokee interiors were inspired by the cultures and environments of Morocco, New Zealand, Nepal, Grand Canyon and by the Italian Mount Vesuvio.

Available on the entire model lineup, the Morocco interiors feature Black monotone seats, instrument panel, consoles and door panels. A Black wood trim finish adorns the dash and doors of the Laredo and Limited models.

The New Zealand interior is a two-tone Black and Light Frost. Nador Brown Walnut interior wood trim finish adorns the instrument panel and door panels and eases the contrast between the two-tone upper and lower interior. The aluminium door handle and dash vent bezels, like the trim on the centre console, feature a slight gold hue. Premium cloth seating is standard on Laredo, while heated, leather seating is standard on Limited.

Standard equipment of the Overland model includes a contrasting stitched-leather instrument panel and seats. Open-pore wood is one of the prominent design cues found on the dash and doors of Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland models, and adds a distinct touch of modern luxury. Wood trim is also found on the top portion of the leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Beside the Morocco interior, the Overland model offers Vesuvio and Nepal interiors featuring two all-new color schemes: Jeep Brown and Indigo Blue - inspired by the blue-hued dark gray walls of Mount Vesuvius - for the former; Jeep Brown and Light Frost for the latter - paying tribute to the geographic diversity found in the Asian country of Nepal. Open-pore brown Zebrano or Black wood is found on the instrument panel and door panels of both interior choices.

The now more exclusive Grand Cherokee Summit is the new top-of-the-range model and offers the highest level of quality. Premium Natura-Plus leather seating are featured in Summit and are available in Black or Jeep Brown with copper accents on door handle and dash vent bezels. Copper leather stitching adorns the leather-covered instrument panel, seats, doors and center armrest and are unique features of the Grand Canyon interior, exclusive to the Summit model. A further exclusive feature found on the Summit is a suede-like material covering the A-pillars and headliner.

The 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT model offers an exclusive Laguna leather interior available in two distinctive colors: Torque (black) and all-new Sepia combination.

SRT's refined cabin features race-inspired technology and exclusive appointments including true carbon fiber trim accents adorning instrument panel, driver's and front passenger's doors and the redesigned, SRT-exclusive heated three-spoke steering wheel with a flat bottom that features a bevy of comfort, convenience and connectivity controls and more pronounced, more ergonomically efficient paddle shifters. An all-new Launch Control button is situated behind the new T-handle shifter on the center console: standard on the SRT models, this functionality delivers enhanced and consistent acceleration performance.

The most significant interior enhancement on the 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT is the new Uconnect with 8.4-inch touchscreen display featuring SRT-exclusive Performance Pages, a distinctive functionality specific to racing technology. Performance Pages shows the drivers instant feedback on steering input measurements, horsepower, torque, 0-100 km/h time, 100-0 km/h braking distance and much more.

BMW 4-Series Coupe, 2014

  •  BMW 4-Series Coupe, 2014

The launch of the new BMW 4-Series Coupe marks the arrival of the fourth generation of BMW's sporty premium mid-size Coupe. The BMW 4-Series Coupe Concept, which celebrated its world premiere at the NAIAS 2013 in Detroit, previewed the evolutionary development of BMW's design language. And now this progression is enshrined in the series-production model. The BMW 4-Series Coupe represents the epitome of aesthetic appeal and sporty dynamics in the premium segment and reinforces the company's claims to leadership in the international marketplace. Its stylistic features carry the promise of a powerful presence on the road, stand-out dynamic ability and unbeatable driving pleasure. Indeed, the new BMW 4-Series Coupe represents a paragon of balanced proportions and the final chapter in a story of development. The "4" in its title headlines this new era for the Coupe and emphasises not only its stand-alone design, but also its even sharper sporting dynamics, increased exclusivity and clear technical differentiation from the BMW 3-Series range. At the same time, BMW is using the new nomenclature to latch onto the fine tradition established by the large BMW 6-Series and BMW 8-Series Coupes.

Athletic elegance, impeccable proportions
The dynamic proportions of the new BMW 4-Series Coupe differ significantly from those of the outgoing BMW 3-Series Coupe. Although only 26 millimetres have been added to the car's length (4,638 mm), a 50-millimetre longer wheelbase (2,810 mm) and a roofline that now runs 16 millimetres lower than before (1,362 mm) shine a particularly vivid spotlight on the dynamically stretched coupe outline. These dimensions combine with the BMW 4-Series Coupe's BMW-typical short overhangs, long bonnet, set-back passenger compartment and flowing roofline to produce a silhouette boasting impeccable visual balance. The athletic appearance of the BMW 4-Series Coupe is rounded off by the 43-millimetre increase in the Coupe's width (1,825 millimetres). For the first time, the rear wheel arches mark the car's broadest point - a clear statement of dynamic intent. The resultant 45-millimetre-wider front track (1,545 mm) and full 80 millimetres of extra width at the rear axle (1,593 mm) promise - before so much as a wheel is turned - further improvements in the already superlative sporting characteristics for which BMW is renowned.

Eye-catching front end with prominently sporting contours. Signature BMW front-end design features, such as the double-kidney grille and twin circular headlights, identify the BMW 4-Series Coupe as a BMW without the need for a second glance. Indeed, it is undeniably keen to show off its close family ties with the BMW 3-Series. However, the BMW 4-Series Coupe displays a more sporting approach to its work, underlining its dynamic convictions. The car's head-turning front end is a demonstration of precise contours and multifaceted surfaces. The eye-catching full-LED twin headlights (optional), with their hexagonal design, team up with the slightly forward-slanting BMW kidney grille to form a single stylistic unit and strengthen the athletic presence of the BMW 4-Series Coupe on the road. Below the headlight line, the BMW 4-Series Coupe features a large air intake in the front apron. Its extremely width-accentuating design creates the impression of a sporty three-way split. On the far left and right-hand edges of the air intakes are the additional, aerodynamically motivated small vertical apertures for the Air Curtains. These vents improve the airflow around the outside of the front wheels and lead to a reduction in fuel consumption at higher speeds.

Flowing lines shape the elegantly sporty silhouette
Powerfully taut surfaces and precise, sweeping lines define the athletic outline of the BMW 4-Series Coupe. The gently sloping roofline - a hallmark coupe trait - creates a smooth transition into the rear, stretches the car's overall appearance and elegantly accentuates the sporting profile of the flanks. Added to which, the shallow, homogeneous side window graphic with frameless glass and the signature slimline BMW Hofmeister kink at the trailing edge of the C-pillar generate a dynamic visual tension. Below the windows, the double swage line - made up of two character lines running alongside each other - familiar from the BMW 3-Series teams up with the striking door sill line to strengthen the body's dynamic wedge shape. The small, shrinking shadow below the swage line above the rear wheel accentuates the flared rear wing, emphasising the car's dynamic potential and hallmark BMW rear-wheel drive.

Located just rearwards of the BMW 4-Series Coupe's front wheels are Air Breathers designed to reduce drag around the wheel arches. Together, the Air Breathers and Air Curtains underline the sporting character of the car's design and provide tangible evidence of the innovative aerodynamic solutions devised by BMW as part of its BMW EfficientDynamics development strategy.

Prominently flared wheel arches offer a clear window into even greater sporting ability

The sporting character of the BMW 4-Series Coupe extends into the powerful design of the rear. The prominent horizontal lines and broadly stretched tail lights positioned at the outer edges of the rear draw extra attention to the muscular wheel arches and wide track. The sharply angled rear window has a lowering effect on the car's tail and gives the body as a whole an even more powerful look. It also shows off the car's broad shoulders with satisfying clarity. The L-shaped rear lights of the BMW 4-Series Coupe blend harmoniously into the car's overall design. They continue the path of the swage line from the flanks, creating a seamless link to the rear end.

Exclusivity and dynamic intent dominate the interior
The interior of the BMW 4-Series Coupe blends sporting intent and exclusivity to stylish effect. In the front of the cabin, an approach known as layering - i.e. the clever utilisation of space through the structuring of lines and surfaces into layers - provides a natural canvas for the hallmark BMW driver focus, but is careful not to exclude the front passenger from the action. All the controls central to driving are arranged ergonomically around the driver and give him or her optimum access to all functions. Automatic belt feeders, a Sports steering wheel, crystal-clear circular instruments in black panel look and the freestanding, flatscreen iDrive monitor underline the sense of functional elegance. The iDrive Touch Controller - within easy reach on the centre console - and the optionally fore-and-aft sliding/folding armrest between the front seats add the finishing touches to the cabin's exceptional usability and comfort.

The dynamic horizontal lines of the instrument panel extend into the optional two-tone door and side panel trim, wrapping around the driver and front passenger in an unbroken sweep and lending the interior an engagingly dynamic feel. The interplay of surfaces and lines in the car's side sections also provides an effective showcase for the typically long coupe doors and, through the continuation of the accent strip, creates a visual connection between the front and rear of the interior. In the rear compartment powerfully contoured seats lend further emphasis to the sporting credentials of the BMW 4-Series Coupe. Recessed head restraints and broad, continuously moulded side supports give the rear bench the appearance of two separate seats.

In the interests of maximising the car's variability, the backrest of the BMW 4-Series Coupe's rear seat bench can be folded down, as an option, in a 40:20:40 split and adapted extremely effectively to suit the requirements of the situation at hand. Folding down the centre segment alone creates a large through-loading facility, which can accommodate several pairs of skis or snowboards while still allowing space for four people on board. (A suitable BMW ski and snowboard bag is available from the BMW Accessories range.) The boot can also be opened remotely using the optional Smart Opener as part of the Comfort Access feature. Here, a short movement of the foot under the centre of the rear bumper is all it takes to raise the tailgate.

Individual equipment variants
High-class material combinations, exclusive colours and individual equipment variants boasting unbeatable quality of workmanship define the premium ambience on board the new BMW 4-Series Coupe. As well as the basic trim level, whose material and colour concept accentuates the more classical side of the car's character, customers have a choice of three other equipment combinations and an M Sport package with which to add individual stylistic touches to the car's exterior and interior. The Sport Line, Modern Line and Luxury Line embody different takes on the car's character, adapting the design and colour scheme for the kidney grille and air intakes, exterior mirror caps, Air Breathers and side window graphic, trim strips in the front and rear apron, door sill strips, model badges on the front side panels, and range of wheel rims to set the car apart externally from the basic trim level.

Sport Line
The Sport Line adds extra depth to the dynamic repertoire of the BMW 4-Series Coupe with a selection of eye-catching exterior body features in high-gloss black. Added to which, the standard high-gloss black B-pillars and black wrap-around window strip lend the car's sporting character even greater punch. Nine strikingly moulded high-gloss black kidney grille slats in a chrome-coloured surround lend the front end a particularly sporty and alert look. The three black air intakes in the front apron and the likewise gleaming black Air Breathers, meanwhile, draw the eye to the car's aerodynamic features. 18-inch or 19-inch (optional) light-alloy wheels - depending on the model - in twin-spoke design provide an extra dose of sporting theatre. From the rear, the BMW 4-Series Coupe with Sport Line can be identified by the black trim strip level with the rear apron and the black exhaust tailpipe embellishers. Inside the car, the contrast between black and red accents, such as the red trim rings in the inner circle of the instrument dials and red contrast stitching on the sports steering wheel, provides the requisite sporting flair. An optional extended equipment variant including coral red leather sports seats, red door panel trim and a red lower section for the instrument panel can be specified exclusively for the BMW 4-Series to take its sporting ambience to another new level.

Alfa Romeo Giulietta, 2014

  • Alfa Romeo Giulietta, 2014

Renewed style, new engines and more technological content to continue playing its starring role. The new Alfa Romeo Giulietta MY 2014 will contribute to consolidating the outstanding sales performance the model has obtained so far: from in mid-2010 to date, more than 212,000 units have been ordered worldwide.

New 150 HP 2.0 JTDM 2 engine
The new 150 HP 2.0 JTDM engine is making its first appearance with the 2014 range. It is equipped with the second-generation MultiJet injection system that both optimises engine combustion in all operating conditions and ensures reduction in fuel consumption and noise at the same time.

Using a small-sized turbocharger means delivering the highest torque in the segment at low rpm (380 Nm at 1750 rpm) and maximum running flexibility.

The heart of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta MY 2014 2.0 JTDM 2 engine is without a doubt the third generation Common Rail injection system that uses innovative injectors able to control the amount of diesel injected into the combustion chamber with utmost precision with a particularly quick and flexible injection sequence thanks to the balanced hydraulic servo valve.

More in detail, up to eight injections per stroke are possible together with strategies that optimise the increasingly advanced combustion, such as the Injection Rate Shaping (IRS) system which involves two consecutive injections so close together in time as to generate a continuous and modulated fuel supply into the cylinders. In this way the combustion process is improved, all to the benefit of quieter operation and particulate and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions. Furthermore, the new injection system is even simpler and more reliable because the injectors have a simpler structure with 40% fewer components.

Finally, it should be noted that with the new 2014 range all available engines have been updated to comply with the 'Euro 5 +' (Euro 6 ready) standard.

Uconnect with 5" or 6.5" RadioNav touchscreen
Designed to enrich the driving experience and perfectly integrated in the design of the car, the innovative Uconnect multimedia device is available with a 5" or 6.5" touch-screen with satellite navigation system and voice commands for easy control of several multimedia sources and outputs. The Uconnect system lets you access all the main functions, from the analogue and digital radio (DAB) - in markets where the optional is sold - through to all the main multimedia resources (mediaplayer, iPod, iPhone, smartphone) which can be connected via USB port or Aux-in socket.

The system also includes an advanced Bluetooth interface to access extra functions, such as phone call management or reading received SMS text messages via text-to-speech technology, innovative Audio Streaming system that reproduces music files and web radio stations directly from a smartphone in streaming via Bluetooth on the UConnect device. Finally, with the Uconnect Nav with 6.5" touch-screen, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta MY 2014 customer can rely on the satellite navigation function with 3D bird's eye view maps and progressive route guidance or the text-to-speech function for entering the destination address using voice commands.

The new infotainment system will be available, on request, on the entire Alfa Romeo Giulietta MY 2014 range.

Exterior
Moonlight Pearl, Anodizzato Blue and Bronze: three new liveries to enhance the dynamic lines of a model that is a blend of sportiness and elegance. The new look of the front grille and the chrome-plated frame of the foglights renew its front. This is the starting point for the design of the entire car, which combines an energetic personality with a distinctly elegant form. The front headlights have DRL with LED technology and a day light function for maximum active safety. The innovative rear lights use LED technology in the same way, which serves not only a stylish purpose but also preventive safety.

Finally, the three new alloy wheels (16'', 17'' and 18'') clearly highlight the profile of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta MY 2014. The side windows recall the appearance of a coupé and emphasise the dynamism and fluidity of the shapes, thanks also the concealed rear door handles. The ribs on the vehicle sides elongate the car while the clean lines which end at the rear accentuate the angular shape of the car body.

Interior
Attention to detail and high quality materials chosen to represent the ultimate expression of Italian style. What particularly stand out are a new door panel and handle and the brand new insert on the central console and dashboard. All elements are treated with uniform scratch-proof paint and the trims are homogeneous in colour and materials. The result is a superior quality environment that welcomes passengers into a warm and enveloping atmosphere. The seats and steering wheel are new, too, and further highlight the perceived quality and on-board comfort.

In particular, making their début on the Quadrifoglio Verde version are the new specific sports seats upholstered in black leather/Alcantara with contrasting stitching with electro-welded logo on the backrest (also available on the QV Sportiva Pack).

Now the Progression version offers the black/anthracite grey fabric, while the Giulietta MY 2014 Distinctive customer can choose between two colour combinations for the fabric upholstery: black/tobacco or anthracite grey. The Exclusive version comes with leather/fabric upholstery that can be in the shade of either black/anthracite grey or tobacco/anthracite grey. All the upholstery is available in top quality leather in the shades of red, tobacco or black on request.

Sporty design and a new form which refers to the Alfa Romeo grille also for the steering wheel, now characterised by a aluminium insert, black, white or red stitching - depending on the interiors and trim levels - and an upholstery in top quality leather made with special foam that ensures a safe and immediate grip. Finally, the luggage compartment has been renewed with a specific black trim for the entire volume (bottom, sides and behind the rear seats). The storage compartment on the left of the steering wheel, the upper glove compartment on the dashboard and the USB port starting from today placed close to the DNA selector - so its use is more convenient and immediate - complete the new features inside the Alfa Romeo Giulietta MY 2014.

Driving satisfaction
Alfa Romeo Giulietta has assumed a place in the tradition of the best Alfa Romeo models, drawing on its heritage of dynamic performance, without compromising on efficiency and convenience in everyday use. The secret behind this performance is continuous technological research, which finds its utmost expression in the Giulietta. This is demonstrated by the "Compact" architecture - created with high-resistance materials which allowed the weight of the structure to be limited - in addition to the Dual Pinion active steering and the sophisticated suspension configurations (MacPherson at the front and the advanced Multilink at the rear). Furthermore, driving satisfaction and comfort adapt to meet every customer's specific needs thanks to the Alfa DNA selector, a device that customises the vehicle's behaviour to suit different road conditions and driving styles. The new architecture of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta was designed to integrate the vehicle's different systems and exploit them to the full, thus emphasising the three set-up functions (Dynamic, Normal and All Weather) available through the Alfa DNA selector. The device, fitted as standard on the entire range, is designed to modify the operating parameters of the engine, gearbox, steering system and Q2 electronic differential, in addition to the behaviour logic of the Electronic Stability Control system (ESC).

Comfort, passenger room and greater soundproofing
Outstanding quality of construction impressive on every level for an excellent standard of comfort. The longitudinal and vertical filtering capacity of the suspension ensures high driving comfort while important technical refinements - such as specific interventions on bumpers, wheel arch, pedal unit and luggage compartment - make the Alfa Romeo Giulietta MY 2014 even quieter and more enjoyable to drive.

Comfort is another strong point: the quality of the materials used for the dashboard and the ergonomics of the interior space in general contribute to a great on-board experience. There hasn't been any compromise on load capacity either, thanks to a luggage compartment with a very regular shape which can be exploited to the full, with a width of 1023 mm between the wheel arches and a maximum capacity of 350 litres, in line with that of its main rivals.

Efficiency: the optimal performance to consumption-emissions ratio

The Giulietta's exceptional efficiency is confirmed by the excellent performance to consumption ratio, a value which is further increased by the latest-generation Alfa TCT twin dry clutch automatic transmission. The innovative transmission ensures greater efficiency and driving comfort and a sportier feeling than the automatic transmissions with torque converter. Suffice it to say that the Giulietta MY 2014 powered by the 170 HP 1.4 TB MultiAir with TCT achieves outstanding results in its segment, improving on the already impressive standard set by the manual gearbox both in acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h and fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

The transmission works in either all-automatic or sequential mode. The "up and down" positions of the precise and ergonomic gear lever are managed manually by the driver, who can also choose to combine it with the "shift paddles" on the steering wheel. The driver can also customise his car's character using the Alfa DNA driving selector to enhance its features of comfort, performance, safety and efficiency.

Safety
Alfa Romeo Giulietta MY 2014: one of the safest cars in its category that turns the tables for those who think that safety detracts from performance. In addition to the undisputed dynamic features of the model, all versions fit plenty of standard equipment, such as six airbags, ESP, three-point seat belts with double pretensioner, anti-whiplash system and third load line for excellent passenger compartment protection.

These are followed - again as standard - by certain systems which are unique in this category, such as Alfa DNA with electronic Q2 differential, the system which allows torque to be transferred to the outer wheel when cornering, to prevent understeer at the front, with benefits for the car in terms of traction, safety and driveability. And there's more: DST, which prompts drivers to correct their driving in the event of an emergency through impulses at the wheel. Finally, the Pre-fill system guarantees maximum promptness during emergency braking. All these features translate into an extremely high active and passive safety level. The Giulietta earned five stars in crash tests according to the stricter parameters introduced by Euro NCAP from its launch, scoring 97% for adult passenger protection, one of the highest scores in the category.

2014 range
5 trim levels (Impression, Progression, Distinctive, Exclusive and Quadrifoglio Verde) - depending on the countries where marketed - to offer safety, comfort and driving pleasure to the various Alfa Romeo Giulietta MY 2014 customers.

All the devices linked to active and passive safety are fitted as standard on the entire range. The standard equipment of the Impression trim level includes: 6 airbags, the Alfa DNA system (with Q2 electronic differential and DST), and the innovative ESC (including ASR and Hill Holder). The manual climate control system and tyre pressure monitoring sensor complete the standard equipment.

The second level, Progression, proves to be an ideal choice for those looking for more on-board comfort with the added rear electrical windows and CD/MP3 sound system with dual tuner function and controls on the steering wheel.

The Distinctive version adds: 16" alloy wheels, leather steering wheel with radio controls, fog lights, dual zone automatic climate control system, new seats upholstered with quality fabric, front armrest with storage compartment and the elegant chrome-plated insert (chrome line) that frames the side windows and refrigerated storage compartment.

The Exclusive trim level is at the top in terms of comfort and technology and offers: leather/fabric upholstery, 17" alloy wheels, rear armrest, lumbar front seat adjustment, electrically folding door mirrors, rear parking sensors, electrochromic rear view mirror and rain and dusk sensors.

The range is completed by the 235 HP Alfa Romeo Giulietta 1750 TBi Quadrifoglio Verde (four-leafed clover), a legendary symbol which has competed on tracks all over the world. Equipped exclusively with the highest-performing engine in the range, the version is distinguished by its thoroughbred sports design, combined with 17'' (optional 18'') wheels, guaranteeing segment-leading driving pleasure and surprisingly limited fuel consumption and emissions for this power rating. The Giulietta thus reinterprets the "Quadrifoglio Verde" with a modern touch, combining the utmost driving pleasure with greater environmental awareness for an eco-conscious and environmentally-friendly sportiness.

The Ram Truck brand offers the most capable heavy-duty pickups in the segment - the 2014 Ram Heavy Duty line features a list of best-in-class titles in the segment's number one purchase reason, capability:
Towing - Up to 30,000 pounds with Ram 3500
Towing - Up to 17,940 pounds with Ram 2500
Payload - Up to 7,320 pounds with Ram 3500
    Power - 850 lb.-ft. of torque with 6.7-liter Cummins
    Power - 410 horsepower and 429 lb.-ft. of torque with all-new 6.4-liter HEMI V-8
Capacity - Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) of 37,600 pounds with Ram 3500

Pricing for the new 2014 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty starts at $29,600, plus $1,095 destination. The 6.4-liter HEMI option is priced $1,495 greater than a similarly equipped 5.7-liter HEMI-powered Ram Heavy Duty pickup and is the first gas engine available in the dual rear wheel 3500.

Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty trucks also add new innovation, including an all-new, 5-link coil suspension with optional air suspension on Ram 2500 and a supplemental air bag suspension option on Ram 3500.

MANUFACTURING
Start of production of the 2014 Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty is scheduled for the third quarter of 2013 at the Saltillo Truck Assembly Plant in Coahuila, Mexico.

ENGINEERING
Heavy-duty trucks generally have suspension equipped for constant, heavy payloads. This can result in a harsher ride when unloaded. Ram innovation leads again for 2014. The new Ram 2500 takes lessons learned from the Ram 1500 and adds an all-new, segment exclusive five-link coil rear suspension system for best-in-class ride and handling and new air suspension system.

The exclusive five-link coil design provides better articulation over obstacles than a leaf spring system and the robust coil springs are more than up to the task of handling the loads required of a Heavy Duty Ram 2500 — up to 17,940 pounds for towing.

The 2014 Ram 2500 also will offer a segment exclusive rear air suspension system. An air bag replaces the coil spring much like the Ram 1500. Load capacity is not sacrificed and the 2014 Ram 2500's best-in-class ride and handling gets even better, crushing the competition with two doses of engineering innovation (five-link coil standard and air suspension option). Another benefit to the new air suspension design is the load-leveling capability, which automatically detects load on the rear suspension from a trailer or payload. The air pressure increases until the vehicle reaches normal ride height, leveling the truck, improving stability and loaded ride.

The Ram 3500 will continue to feature the rear Hotchkiss leaf spring system on the Ram 3500 but will now offer a supplemental air suspension system on SRW and DRW applications. By adding supplemental air bags to the rear suspension, Ram engineers were able to soften the leaf springs, allowing for more unladed suspension movement. When a high-load capacity condition exists, the air suspension automatically fills the rear air bags to level the truck to improve stability and ride quality — even pulling a best-in-class 30,000-lb. load.

In the front, the Ram Heavy Duty line features an advanced three-link front suspension to ensure roll stiffness. Greater roll stiffness, also known as body roll, is an important characteristic in taller vehicles and especially trucks with heavy payloads. Roll stiffness is measured by the amount the truck's body tips side-to-side, independently of the wheels, during cornering.

For 2014 Ram 2500 offers gooseneck (center-positioned ball in the bed) or fifth wheel capability. Ram is unmatched in terms of offering the most complete 'hitch 'n go' towing prep package found anywhere in the heavy-duty category. Additionally, Ram features an in-box connection junction, and a standard Class 4 and 5 receiver hitch with a four or seven pin connector on the bumper.

Ram offers two different dual alternator systems on the 2014 Ram Heavy Duty providing additional power for higher electrical loads from commercial vehicle upfits and accessories. New for 2014, Ram Heavy Duty models equipped with the Cummins 6.7-liter diesel engine will offer dual 220-amp alternators (best-in-class 440 amps). Both the Ram 2500 and 3500 equipped with the new 6.4-liter HEMI® V-8 gas engine also will offer a dual-alternator system - the first gas-driven application of its kind in either class - that combines 220- and 160-amp units for 380-amps of total best-in-class output.

Although the Ram Power Wagon benefits from the new five-link rear suspension, it also receives a unique front suspension system to maintain its leadership in off-road capability. The modified front three-link system incorporates high-movement links, allowing for additional flexibility and axle articulation. The 2014 Power Wagon also is powered by the all-new 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 engine, contributing to Ram Power Wagon's title: the most capable production off-road truck in the industry.

POWERTRAIN
With Chrysler Group's all-new 6.4-liter HEMI V-8, the 2014 Ram Heavy Duty will deliver to best-in-class horsepower and best-in-class torque among pickups with gasoline engines.

Engineered to deliver capability, durability and bang for the buck, the largest displacement V-8 in its class provides a worthy gas-powered option to the segment's overall standard-bearer - the 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel.

Compelling numbers tell the story of the new 16-valve engine with 410 horsepower (306 kW) at 5,600 rpm and a peak torque rating of 429 lb.-ft. (582 N•m), at 4,000 rpm.

One of the enablers for such performance is an active dual-runner-length intake manifold optimized specifically for the Ram Heavy Duty lineup. The result is improved low-end torque without sacrificing high-end power.

The legendary HEMI architecture provides the foundation of the 90-degree V-8. But its advanced technology is decidedly forward-looking. Cooled exhaust-gas recirculation (CEGR), variable-valve timing (VVT) and Chrysler Group's trademark Fuel Saver cylinder-deactivation technology all contribute to efficiency and help to capitalize on every cubic inch.

The new 6.4-liter HEMI is standard on the 66RFE six-speed automatic transmission.

Other engine options include the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8, standard equipment for the Ram 2500 and 3500 (SRW). The engine produces 383 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and generates peak torque of 400 lb.-ft. at 4,000 rpm. The 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 is mated to a 66RFE six-speed automatic transmission.

Dominating the torque charts, the renowned 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel I-6 is available in three versions. The first version is paired with Ram's segment exclusive six-speed manual transmission, which features a wear-compensating clutch for lifetime like-new performance and a dual-trunion shift tower to accommodate a compact shift pattern. This combination delivers 350 horsepower at 2,800 rpm and 660 lb.-ft. of torque at 1,400 rpm. The second option matches the Cummins to the 68RFE six-speed automatic transmission. The diesel engine cranks out 370 horsepower at 2,800 rpm with an unsurpassed in ¾-ton trucks 800 lb.-ft. of torque at 1,600 rpm.

Finally, the 6.7-liter Cummins High-Output Turbo Diesel I-6 for Ram 3500 is paired with the Aisin six-speed automatic transmission (AS69RC), leaving no doubt to Ram Heavy Duty's capability. In addition to 385 horsepower at 2,800 rpm, the most powerful Cummins, generates best-in-class torque of 850 lb.-ft. at 1,700 rpm. The AS69RC transmission features wide gear ratios that contribute to impressive shift performance, efficiency and drivability.

The Ram Heavy Duty also features another innovation, the industry-exclusive Ram Active Air intake system. When the intake system senses extreme heat, it draws cooler air from the front of the vehicle - a function that also engages at high altitudes for superior throttle response in low oxygen environments. When conditions are wet from snow, ice or water-fording, the system pulls air from an under-hood inlet, clear from snow packing and water. The 2014 Ram 3500 boasts a best-in-class GCWR. A contributor is the 11.8-inch rear axle matched with the high-output diesel engine boasting a 300-mm hypoid gear set, a 4-pinion helical differential and a cooling-fin equipped aluminum differential cover for optimal thermal management.

Two Borg-Warner part-time transfer cases are available on the 2014 Ram Heavy Duty. The BW 44-46 is an electric shifting part-time transfer case with 2WD, 4WD High, 4WD Low and Neutral. BW 44-47 is a manual shifting transfer case with 2WD, 4WD High, 4WD Low and Neutral. Both options feature a low-range ratio of 2.64 and locking differential from front to rear.

Low total cost of ownership and unsurpassed powertrain warranty - five years / 100,000 miles

Operating costs are of great consideration for owners who use their trucks for work. The 2014 Ram Heavy Duty holds class-leading features in:
    Fuel economy
Extended maintenance cycle (oil change, fuel filter life)
Brake life with advanced engine exhaust brake and largest brakes in the segment

The 2014 Ram Heavy Duty is backed with an unsurpassed five-year/100,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty. The powertrain-limited warranty covers the cost of all parts and labor needed to repair a covered powertrain component - engine, transmission and drive system. Coverage also includes free towing to the nearest Ram Truck dealer, if necessary. The warranty also is transferable allowing customers who sell their truck during the warranty period to pass the coverage to the new owner. The standard three-year/36,000-mile Basic Limited Warranty provides bumper-to-bumper coverage for the Ram Heavy Duty, from the body to the electrical system.

DESIGN
The new 2014 Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty models uphold a bold presence while retaining comfort and styling. The new Ram Heavy Duty features segment-leading technology - every model offers specific content.
